See which Stanislaus District football player fans crowned The Bee’s Player of the Week

Davis coach Trevor Mew mentioned multiple times at weekly Modesto Quarterback Club meetings that he was impressed with quarterback Caleb Zaragoza’s on-field growth.

Just a sophomore, Zaragoza stepped in as the team’s starting quarterback this season and led the Spartans to third place in the Western Athletic Conference.

In the team’s season finale, Zaragoza had one of his best games, completing 16 of 23 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-22 win over Johansen. It was the first time in his varsity career with over 200 passing yards and at least three passing touchdowns.

The fans noticed his performance, voting him The Bee’s Week 11 Football Player of the Week.

Zaragoza finished first, collecting 46% of the votes in the weekly poll. He finished ahead of Johansen’s Ezekiel Rodriguez and his Gregori teammate Alton Williams, who came in second and third, respectively.
