Here’s who fans picked as the Stanislaus District’s football Player of the Week

Downey’s defense played arguably its best game of the season in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs.

Against Tracy High’s run-first offense, the Knights did not give up an offensive touchdown. They also came away with four turnovers, sacked Tracy’s quarterbacks six times and recorded nine tackles for loss to lead Downey to a 27-10 win, the program’s first playoff win since 2018.

Defensive lineman Ryne Moore was one of the players on the Knights’ defense that had a big performance to win The Bee’s Player of the Week. The junior recorded seven tackles with three tackles for loss and added a sack in the win.

Moore came in first, earning 85% of the votes in the weekly poll. He finished ahead of Ripon Christian’s Grant Sonke and his teammate Joseph Ramirez, who finished second and third, respectively.
