Here’s who fans picked as the Stanislaus District’s football Player of the Week

The Escalon Cougars had their best passing game in a 41-21 win over Oakdale last Friday, leading to a career game for junior Sam Jimenez.

He caught three of quarterback Donovan Rozevink’s five touchdown passes and finished with 144 receiving yards on 10 catches. He also contributed on defense, recording three tackles and an interception. The two-way player started playing football as a freshman and this year is in his first varsity season.

The fans noticed his performance, voting him The Bee’s Football Player of the Week.

Jimenez finished first, earning 56% of the votes in the weekly poll. He came in ahead of his teammate, Rozevink, and Ripon Christian’s Trevor Van Elderen who finished second and third, respectively.
