The Pitman High football team spoiled Modesto High’s homecoming on Friday night at Downey, jumping on the Panthers early and extending a 35-0 lead heading into the intermission.

In the battle between two teams looking for their first Central California Athletic League win, the Pride (2-7, 1-3) came ready behind big games from Joey Stout and Drew Walker. The two led Pitman to a 56-22 win over Modesto. Next week, the Pride will face Downey, which is on the verge of an undefeated season.

Walker started the game with a bang, connecting with Dylan Freeman for a 60-yard touchdown to open the scoring. He then connected with Stout for a 28-yard pass. Walker finished an efficient 12 of 13 for 270 yards and three touchdowns.

Stout stuffed the stat sheet with 11 carries for 154 yards and a rushing touchdown and three catches for 85 yards and a score.

Modesto’s consistent duo Eli McCabe and Heston Blom connected in the third quarter for the Panthers’ first score. The 63-yard connection was the highlight of the game. McCabe and Garrett Bidwell each had fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns of 45 and 26 yards, respectively. The Panthers play their final game against Enochs next week.

Despite another outstanding performance, Stout received two unsportsmanlike penalties and was ejected. If Pitman appeals and loses, he will be forced to sit out the final game of his season and career.

Stone Ridge Christian 37, Big Valley Christian 6: For the first time in five years, Big Valley Christian will fight an uphill battle in its hopes of winning a Central California Athletic Alliance title. The Knights went up 21 points in the first quarter and used that hot start to coast to victory. The Lions scored all six of their points in the third quarter.

Livingston 27, Riverbank 3: The Bruins continued to struggle in Friday night’s TVL game against the league’s fifth-place team. They finish the season on the road against second-place Hilmar.

Davis 23, Johansen 18: The Spartans took a 20-18 lead into halftime against the Vikings and their defense handled the rest. Davis held Johansen scoreless in the third and fourth quarters, needing only a third-quarter field goal to put the game out of reach to secure its second straight win. The Spartans will end the season against Ceres.

Pacheco 47, Beyer 20: Despite the loss, Beyer had its best scoring output since a Week 2 loss against Modesto. The Patriots still couldn’t get in the win column this season and will have one final shot next week against winless Johansen.

Kimball 39, Oakdale 34: Oakdale led 21-20 with less than five minutes in the first half, but a late touchdown gave the Jaguars the lead heading into the intermission. While the Mustangs were able to cut the game to five, a late turnover on downs gave the ball back to Kimball with 47 seconds remaining.

Hilmar 49, Modesto Christian 8: The Trans-Valley League’s top team made quick work of the Crusaders on Friday night. The Yellowjackets took a 42-8 lead into halftime and scored their final touchdown in the third. Modesto Christian ends its season with a 6-5 overall record and will await its playoff seeding. Hilmar plays Riverbank to finish the season.

Turlock 56, Enochs 16: Cole Gilbert was responsible for five touchdowns — four passing and one rushing — in the Bulldogs’ dominant win over Enochs. The senior passed for 233 yards and rushed for 156 more, and JT Foreman rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns as Turlock improved to 3-1 in league play. It closes the season at home against Gregori.

Ceres 35, Mountain House 33: The Bulldogs got all they could handle, winning a nailbiter over the WAC’s sixth-place team. With the victory, Ceres remains tied for third place and stays a playoff bubble team with one week left. It faces Davis next week.

Patterson 28, Buhach Colony 18: The Tigers took a 28-3 lead into halftime and though they didn’t score in the second half, the defense stood firm. They allowed 15 second-half points, but got timely stops during the third and early fourth to keep the Thunder out of reach despite another standout game from Jaxson Percoats.

Orestimba 44, Denair 14: The matchup between the Southern League’s undefeated champion and winless Coyotes was dominated by the No. 1 seed. The Warriors have scored more than 40 points in their last four league games.

Mariposa County 40, Waterford 27: The Wildcats dropped their second straight against one of the SL’s top four teams. They have given up 70 and 40 points, respectively in the losses.

Ripon Christian 35, Gustine 7: The Knights sealed up second place in the SL with Friday’s dominant win over Gustine. They will end the season with a visit to seventh-place Delhi.

Escalon 43, Ripon 0: Logan Anderson had a rushing and a receiving touchdown before the half as the Cougars took a 22-0 lead into the break. After a Javier Guiterrez 25-yard pick six with about eight minutes left in the third, Escalon was off to the races, securing a dominant TVL win.
