High school football rankings: Multiple top teams to match up in key league games
There were wins all over the board last week as the area’s Top 10 went 8-1.
Area No. 7 Hilmar returns from a Week 8 bye and immediately plays the biggest Trans-Valley League game of the year Friday against No. 6 Hughson.
Downey’s visit to Turlock proved to be worth the hype, and after losing on a 25-yard field goal as time expired, the Bulldogs drop one spot. Usually when you nearly beat the No. 1 team, your position in the rankings doesn’t move, but Oakdale’s win over East Union moves it into the No. 3 spot this week.
Five of the top 10 teams have key league matchups this week.
In addition to No. 6 Hughson hosting No. 7 Hilmar, No. 2 Central Catholic welcomes Valley Oak League rival No. 3 Oakdale and No. 5 Patterson travels to Golden Valley for a game between the two top teams in the Central California Conference. While the top 10 doesn’t look much different this week, next week could be a different story.
