Here’s who fans picked as the Stanislaus District’s football Player of the Week
Downey is off to a hot 4-0 start with an average of 40 points per game. A lot of that comes through the passing game as the Knights have 15 passing touchdowns and just six on the ground. Six different players have caught a touchdown pass as the wealth has been spread from wide receivers to running backs.
Of the many targets for Downey’s quarterback Conner Stoddard to connect with, none had a better outing in the Knights’ 43-0 win over Beyer than Gabe Hernandez. The senior caught eight passes for 152 yards, two touchdowns and had one of the greatest high school catches of the year. It is his second game this season with eight or more catches more than 150 yards. Because of that, the fans voted him The Bee’s Week 4 Player of the Week.
Hernandez earned 59% of the votes in the weekly poll, finishing ahead of running backs Aiden Muhammad of Enochs and Turlock’s JT Foreman II, who finished in second and third, respectively.
