High school football rankings: Two unbeatens remain, Oakdale bounces back with win

And then there were two.

Downey and Ceres are the only unbeaten teams in the Top 10 after Week 4 at 4-0 and 3-0, respectively. The Knights had their second-highest scoring game of the season in Friday’s homecoming win over Downey. Ceres had a bye last week after beating Central Valley on Sept. 2, 21-20. Dropping from the ranks of the Top 10’s unbeaten was Hughson, which lost to a Summerville team that is 4-0.

Oakdale went into the week needing a win after a loss to Aptos. The Mustangs regrouped in their bye, blanking Balboa 55-0.

Escalon remains the Stanislaus District’s highest ranked small school after beating a lethal offensive team in Kimball of the Valley Oak League, keeping possession from the Jaguars in the second half and holding them to their lowest-scoring game since October 8, 2021 against Central Catholic.
