The Central Catholic High School football team isn’t playing any easy games this year. A week after playing Merced, the Raiders took on St. Francis on the road. Though they took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter, they couldn’t pull it out. Despite the loss, Central Catholic had players that kept the game close, one being running back and linebacker Tyler Jacklich.

Jacklich did the bulk of his damage on the offensive end, but remained a strong defensive presence as well. The senior rushed for 297 yards and three touchdowns and recorded three tackles and forced a fumble, doing all he could to keep his team in the game.

The fans noticed his outstanding performances on both sides of the ball, voting him this wee’s Modesto Bee Player of the Week.

Jacklich earned 42% of the more than 17,100 votes in the weekly poll. He finished ahead of quarterbacks Adrian Gallegos of Davis and Raymond Corral Jr. from Modesto Christian, who came in second and third place, respectively.
