High school football rankings: Turlock rises after big win, Hughson enters top 10

Now that games have been played, there is no need for speculation. Teams have displayed their talent so we have a bit of a sample size for this week’s Top 10.

Turlock picked up the biggest win of the weekend, defeating Rocklin. The 14-7 win was just what the Bulldogs were looking for after a down season last year. They jumped up two spots, from fifth to third. Turlock will be a team to watch. Wins in the stacked preseason schedule could move it up to second or first.

Patterson jumped Hilmar after the two matched up in Week 1. The Tigers squeaked out with a 20-14 victory, but it was enough to move them into the No. 6 spot and drop Hilmar to No. 7.

Despite playing in a close game that could have easily gone its way, a three-point loss to Weston Ranch dropped Davis out of the Top 10. Ripon Christian fell to Central Valley Christian 42-14, dropping it from eighth to 10th. Ceres takes the Knights’ spot after a big win over West, and Hughson enters the conversation after a 40-point win over Sierra.
