There seems to be no stopping the Waterford High offense.

Having cleared the 40-point barrier in three of their last four games heading into Friday’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI playoff game against Summerville, the Wildcats did it again.

Talented quarterback Aaron Adams threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two more as Waterford scored 21 second-quarter points en route to a 48-25 victory over the Bears.

The Wildcats (10-1) move on to the quarterfinals, where they will travel to Livingston on Friday night to take on the Wolves (6-4), who finished fourth in the Trans-Valley League.

In the first quarter, Adams hit Javier Nusom on a 28-yard pass play for a 7-0 lead with about eight minutes left in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, after a Ryan Hilton 5-yard touchdown run, Adams hit Nusom on an 11-yard scoring play, then ran it in from the 5 for a 28-7 lead over a Summerville team the Wildcats beat 35-28 in Week 3.

No. 8 Sheldon 36, No. 9 Turlock 21: The host Huskies scored two touchdowns in about a two-minute span in the fourth quarter to overtake the Bulldogs in a Division I game.

Turlock was among all four Central California Athletic League playoff teams that were bounced in the first round.

Turlock led 22-21 in the fourth quarter when Sheldon quarterback Devin Green hooked up with Scott Nixon on a 17-yard scoring play with about seven minutes left.

A few minutes later, Nixon intercepted a Turlock pass near midfield and returned it to the Bulldogs’ 2-yard line. Green later scored on a 5-yard scoring run to put the game out of reach.

Turlock, which concluded the season 4-7, had overcome a 21-8 deficit to take the lead in the third quarter.

No. 7 Del Oro 28, No. 10 Enochs 21: The host Golden Eagles took a 28-7 lead into the fourth quarter and held off the Eagles, who concluded the season 5-5.

With 11 minutes left in the game, Enochs’ Abayomi Babalola scored on a 4-yard run to cut Del Oro’s lead to 28-14. It was his second touchdown of the game, the first coming on a 3-yard run in the second quarter.

Later in the quarter, Enochs cut the lead to 28-21 when quarterback Keith Orona hit Isaac Adams on a 4-yard scoring pass, capping a 69-yard drive with three minutes left.

Enochs then recovered the onside kick.

However, with less than a minute left and inside Del Oro territory, Enochs fumbled, ending the Eagles’ shot at the upset.

No. 8 Linden 42, No. 9 Orestimba 28: The host Lions led 35-21 at halftime, then held the Warriors (6-5) to just seven second-half points in the first round of the Division VI playoffs.

No. 5 Ripon 39, No. 12 Ceres 13: The host Indians (7-4) led 25-0 and breezed to victory over the Bulldogs (5-6) in a first-round Division V contest.

Caleb Johnston rushed for two touchdowns and Adam Berrera threw for one and rushed for one as the Indians advanced to the Division V quarterfinals, where they will meet No. 4-seed Pioneer (8-1) of Woodland, which had a bye.

Berrera hit Nolan Young on a 31-yard pass play midway through the second quarter and after Ripon recovered a fumble, Ethan Day scored on a 1-yard run with about three minutes left before halftime for the 25-point lead.

Johnston, who scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter, scored on a 5-yard run early in the fourth quarter before Anden Riles scored Ripon’s final touchdown on a 24-yard run.

No. 6 Elk Grove 56, No. 11 Gregori 6: The visiting Jaguars (6-5) fell behind 21-0 and couldn’t keep up with the Thundering Herd in a Division II game.

No. 5 Patterson 38, No. 12 Burbank 6: The host Tigers (9-2) won their ninth straight game, rolling out to a 21-0 lead in the fourth quarter and breezing to a Division III victory.

The victory earned Patterson a spot in the quarterfinals, where on Friday it’ll face Yuba City, the No. 4 seed in Division III that had a first-round bye.
