Gregori High scored its first conference victory over Turlock High on Friday night, beating the Bulldogs 25-15.

The win clinched a second-place finish for the host Jaguars in the Central California Athletic League.

Gregori jumped out to a 19-0 lead going into halftime and withstood a rally by the Bulldogs, who scored 15 third-quarter points.

Gregori coach Lamar Wallace said the Jaguars did a great job of turning things around against a physical Turlock team following last week’s 49-20 loss to CCAL champion Downey.

Just before the half, with Turlock driving, Gregori came up with an interception.

Jayden Miller sealed the game with a 42-yard touchdown run to secure the Gregori’s fourth victory in five games.

Gregori ranks 10th in CalPreps’ Sac-Joaquin Section Division I rankings. But, there could be some shuffling of teams and the victory over a quality Turlock team could be enough to land the Jaguars a home playoff games.

The parings will be released on Sunday. The live-streamed show, hosted by Will DeBoard of the Sac-Joaquin Section and Joe Davidson of The Sacramento Bee, starts at 1:30 p.m.
