Central Catholic finished off the toughest stretch of its Valley Oak League schedule with a win over Manteca, one of the best teams in the area.

One of the keys in Central Catholic’s past two wins has been senior running back and defensive lineman Julian Lopez.

Lopez did it all in his team’s biggest game of the season. The senior ran for 188 yards and two touchdowns, completed his only pass attempt for a 15 yard touchdown and caught a 13 yard pass for another score.

The fans noticed his do-it-all performance and voted Lopez The Bee’s Week 9 Player of the Week.

This is Lopez’s second Player of the Week honor in a row. This week he received 48% of the more than 43,500 votes in our weekly poll.

He finished above runner up, quarterback and defensive back Jason Pimentel of Hilmar, who collected 30% of votes and third-place finisher, Downey quarterback, Conner Stoddard.
