Roundup: Patterson rolls to sixth straight victory; Pitman upends Enochs

The Patterson High football team has served notice on the rest of the Central California Conference.

After opening the season with losses against two formidable foes – Hilmar and Manteca – the first-place Tigers (6-2, 4-0) have reeled off six straight convincing victories, including Friday night’s 35-7 victory over Central Valley of Ceres.

Patterson, which has averaged 53 points a game during the streak, concludes the season over the next two weeks when it meets Golden Valley (3-3, 2-0) and Buhach Colony (2-4, 2-0).

Pitman 42, Enochs 19: Joey Stout ran for three touchdowns, including a 55-yarder and a 79-yarder, and scored on a touchdown reception as the Pride rolled past the Eagles (4-2, 0-2). Pitman improved to 2-4, 1-1 in the Central California Athletic League. Enochs, which has lost two straight since a school-record four straight wins to open the season, hosts Downey next week at Johansen High.

Escalon 54, Modesto Christian 6: The Cougars remained unbeaten in Trans-Valley League play with the easy win over the Crusaders. Escalon (6-1, 3-0 TVL) plays at Riverbank next Friday, then comes a showdown with Ripon on Oct. 22 in a game that could decide the TVL title.

Hughson 55, Riverbank 0: Hughson scored 28 points in the first quarter on its way to a blowout victory at home. The Huskies are 6-2 overall, 2-2 in the TVL.

Ceres 26, Pacheco 3: Ceres traveled to Los Banos and won its third straight Western Athletic Conference league game, tying the Bulldogs for second place with Lathrop (5-2, 3-1) behind undefeated Davis. After games against Los Banos and Mountain House, Ceres ends the season against Davis.

Mountain House 32, Beyer 0: The Mustangs (2-5, 2-2 WAC) handed the Patriots (0-7, 0-4) their third shutout defeat of the season.

Los Banos-Johansen postponed: The game between the Tigers and the Vikings was postponed due to COVID-19-related reasons, according the Johansen coach Rod Smith. He said Saturday morning it did not appear the game would be made up.

Oakdale 55, Sierra 0: The Mustangs had lost two straight and took their frustrations out on the Timberwolves. Oakdale is 5-2 overall, 2-2 in the Valley Oak League.

Le Grand 48, Ripon Christian 28: Le Grand receiver Carlos Castaneda had a huge game, hauling in 10 receptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns as Le Grand improved to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the Southern League.

Castaneda scored on touchdown catches of 38, 38 and 53 yards from Bulldogs quarterback Julian Bucio.

Alexis Granados scored two touchdowns for Le Grand, including a 30-yard fumble recovery.

Waterford 41, Gustine 10: The Wildcats overcame a sloppy first quarter to keep its perfect season going. Waterford is 7-0 overall, 4-0 in the SL. Wildcats quarterback Aaron Adams threw five touchdown passes in the win.

Sonora 64, Calaveras 22: The Wildcats won their third game in a row, improving their record to 4-3 and 2-0 in the Mother Lode League.
