Central Valley pushes Antelope; top seed Sonora ends MC’s season

Division II

Antelope 28, Central Valley 13, in Antelope – The Hawks closed to within 14-13 in the third quarter, but the third-seeded Titans pulled away in with 14 unanswered points.

Central Valley trailed 14-0 before halving the lead on a quarterback sneak by Willie Soriano. The Hawks (9-2) made it 14-13 when Soriano hit Gabriel Quezada on an 8-yard scoring strike early in the third quarter, but missed the PAT. Antelope added a score in the third quarter and another in the fourth.

Division IV

Sonora 56, Modesto Christian 21, at Sonora – Quarterback Josh Harris rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns, while teammate Kane Rodgers ran for 126 yards and a pair of scores to lead the top-seeded Wildcats.

Sonora scored on its first offensive play of the game as Harris rambled 51 yards to make it 7-0 just 17 seconds into the contest.

The Wildcats await the winner of Friday’s Ripon-Capital Christian matchup.

Division VII

Stone Ridge Christian 47, Delta 0, in Atwater – Jonathan Collazo ran for 85 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries as the two-time defending section champions opened the postseason. The referees called the game with nine minutes to play in the contest after tempers began to fray following an injury to a Delta player.

The Knights will take on Brookside Christian for the section championship on Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. at Bear Creek High School in Stockton.
