MMC roundup: Beyer gets extra-inning baseball win over Gregori

Beyer right fielder Jordan Walls had three hits and drove in three RBIs, including the tying runs in the seventh and the go-ahead run in the ninth inning as the Patriots edged Gregori 4-3 for a Modesto Metro Conference victory.

The Pats, coming off a 7-6 win over Gregori on Monday, are now 5-0 in the MMC, while the Jaguars drop to 0-2. The 2015 league co-champions conclude their three-game regular-season series on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. at Beyer High’s Cornwell Field.

Trevor Ravelli, the hero of Monday’s win with his walk-off single in the seventh, opened the ninth inning with a single to left and then scampered home with the eventual winning run on Walls’ line-drive double to right.

Walls also delivered a big hit in the seventh when, with two outs, he stroked a two-run single that tied the game 3-3.

The Jaguars scored all three of their runs in the third, as Tyler Vandemark scored on a fielder’s choice, Matt Dallas delivered an RBI single and Michael Olivarez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Enochs 24, Johansen 0, at Enochs H.S. – Senior southpaw Ryan Davis threw a five-inning no-hitter, fanning eight Vikings along the way.

After taking a 5-0 lead in the first inning, the Eagles, now 5-0 in the MMC, erupted for 18 runs in the second.

Aaron Davis, C.J. Hackett, Adrian Gonzales and Jordan Davidson all had three hits and multiple RBIs for Enochs, while teammates Tanner Sheets, Eli Martinez and Chris Butterfield collected two hits apiece.

Modesto 8, Downey 2, at Modesto H.S. – Eric Alvarado was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, helping the Panthers (5-0) keep pace with Beyer and Enochs in the MMC standings. Orlando Cardenas had a pair of hits for Modesto, while Ricardo Martinez picked up the victory.

For the Knights, (0-5), Brett Neves was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.
