Prep Sports Rewind: Livingston edges Ripon; Beyer rolls

Trailing by nine points entering the fourth quarter, Livingston High outscored Ripon 21-11 in the final stanza to produce a 66-65 non-conference, boys basketball victory.

The Wolves (8-10) led 37-33 at the break but were outscored 21-8 in the third quarter and trailed by nine after three quarters. Livingston’s Anthony Deol and Ripon’s Cole Stevens led all scorers with 17 points. Harman Singh added 13 for the Wolves, while teammates Blake Jantz and Josh Penrod chipped in with 12 and 11, respectively.

Mario Roach and Aaron Paschini contributed 14 apiece for the Indians.

BEYER 71, MODESTO 37, at Modesto – The Patriots outscored Modesto 17-6 in the first eight minutes of play and never looked back.

With the victory, the Patriots improve to 14-2 overall and 3-1 in the Modesto Metro Conference, while Modesto dips to 4-11, 2-2.

Beyer’s Jake Polack led all scorers with 17 points, and was the only player in the gym to score in double digits.

JOHANSEN 52, GREGORI 39, at Johansen – Krys Williams and Mo Woods combined for 38 points, leading the Vikings (7-8, 2-2) to an MMC win over the Jaguars (4-11, 1-3).

Williams led all scorers with 20, while Woods finished with 18. Gregori got 12 points from Demetrius Vinson.

DOWNEY 54, DAVIS 44, at Downey – Leading by a single point at halftime, the Knights (4-13, 1-3) slowly pulled away in the second half thanks to 25 points from Fabian Hernandez and 16 from PJ Wilson. Both Hernandez and Wilson connected for four 3-point field goals. Davis (9-8, 0-4) got 22 points from Talolo Limu-Jones.

Girls Basketball

EAST UNION 57, OAKDALE 39, at Manteca – The Lancers used a big first quarter and big second quarter en route to an 18-point victory over the Mustangs.

East Union outscored Oakdale 11-5 in the opening stanza and 15-7 in the fourth. In the second and third quarters, however, East Union scored a combined 31, while Oakdale tallied 27. Ruby Daube led the Lancers (10-4, 2-1 in the Valley Oak League) with 17, while Anna Wood added. Olivia Vezaldenos and Jessica Plabo chipped in with 11 apiece.

The Mustangs (2-13, 0-3) got double-dig performances from Micaela Maaske (14), Maddi Hackbarth (11) and Colleen Ibasco (10).

Wrestling

CERES 60, PACHECO 19, at Los Banos – Outside of three forfeit victories, the Bulldogs won all their matches by fall. Ceres got pins from Luis Camarillo (120), Brian Becerra (126), Daniel Reya (152), Diego Diaz (182), Daniel McEwen (195), Brian Quintanilla (220) and Able Morales (285).
