Gregori, Pitman roll at Pedretti tourney

Day 2 of the 32nd annual Atch Pedretti Baseball Tournament beat the forecast, getting in all games before any raindrops appeared.

Gregori High defeated Turlock 11-4 in one mid-day matchup, while Pitman defeated Oakdale 9-3 in the other.

The Mustangs then had to hightail it back to Oakdale, where Lodi was waiting to play a 3:30 p.m. contest. Other late games included Modesto at Pitman and Sierra at Turlock.

The tournament schedule, originally slated for Thursday through Saturday, was condensed and moved to Wednesday and Thursday in an effort to beat the rain that was forecast Thursday and Friday.

Pitman 9, Oakdale 3 – The Pride scored three runs in the first inning, the big blow being a two-run double by junior first baseman Dylan Roberts, who was 3 for 4 with three RBIs in the contest.

Anthony Encalade was 3 for 3 with a double and three runs scored for the Pride.

Bradley Enos earned the victory for Pitman, scattering eight hits and giving up three runs in five innings of work. He struck out five.

Austin Manning, Sean Gingerich and Tyler Hall each collected two hits for the Mustangs.

Gregori 11, Turlock 4 – The Jaguars scored three runs in the first inning and kept chipping away as they improved their record to 3-0.

Gregori catcher Andrew Urrutia was 2 for 4 with a double, while second baseman Hector Guerrero also was 2 for 4.

Matt Dallas started for the Jaguars, giving up four runs, three of them earned, in five innings of work. He fanned four and walked one.

Turlock dropped the nightcap 6-4 to Sierra, while Pitman led Modesto 4-3 after five innings.
