The Sac-Joaquin Section on Friday afternoon released the girls flag football playoff brackets in an expanded playoff pool that features Divisions I through IV.

After a postseason with just two divisions in 2023, the first that featured girls flag football as an official sport as noted by the California Interscholastic Federation, the playoff field has doubled in 2024. That reflects the rapid growth of the sport in the Sac-Joaquin Section and statewide.

Pitman High of Turlock has had the Stanislaus District’s top team all season. The Pride were nationally ranked by MaxPreps as high as No. 11. Gregori also was nationally ranked after the first few weeks of the season, coming in at No. 24.

The Pride (18-2) finished as CCAL champions, Turlock (16-7) came in second and the Jaguars (15-7) finished third in league play. Each team made the playoffs. Downey also made the playoffs. Each team is in the Division I bracket.

Escalon made it the farthest of any Stanislaus District flag football team last season, reaching the section semifinals. This season, they are back in the postseason after a 12-10 season. The Trans-Valley League continues to be competitive in nearly every sport as in the league’s first season with each team fielding flag football teams, the Cougars, Orestimba and Hughson finished with 8-2 league records.

There is one Division I play-in game Monday, Oct. 28. First-round play begins for all divisions Tuesday, Oct. 29. The Sac-Joaquin Section postseason ends with championship games at Cosumnes River College Saturday on Nov. 9.
