See who Stanislaus District fans voted as The Bee’s Girls Player of the Week

Downey junior outside hitter Izzy Watson has continued to be a catalyst for the Knights’ offense through the first half of the 2024 season.

Her 244 kills lead the Knights and rank sixth in the Sac-Joaquin Section. While her offense has been consistently impressive over the past two seasons, Watson has continued to get better, improving her serving this off-season, Downey coach Tera Coleman said. She is fifth in the section in aces (65) through Sept. 27.

In a five-set nonleague win over Cosumnes Oaks, Watson tallied 21 kills, five aces and 15 digs to lead the team to its 17th win of the season. Later that same week, Watson set a new school record with 34 kills against Gregori. It is her third time setting a school single-game kills record in two years.

The fans noticed her performance against Cosumnes Oaks, voting her The Bee’s Girls Player of the Week.

Watson came in first, collecting 86% of the votes in the weekly poll. She finished ahead of volleyball players Adriana Dorn of Ripon and Emily Yarbrough of Hughson, who were second and third, respectively.
