See who Stanislaus District fans voted as The Bee’s Girls Player of the Week
After a five-set loss to Ripon, the Pitman High volleyball team rebounded with eight straight wins in the Gold Division at the Central Valley Classic at Golden Valley High on Sept. 6-7.
The Pride beat Hughson, McLane, Los Banos, Merced, Downey, Tokay and Buhach Colony before taking on St. Francis of Sacramento in the championship.
After dropping the first set 10-25, the Pride rebounded, winning the second and third 25-14 and 16-14, respectively.
Danica Zamora was a steadying force for the Pride throughout pool play and continued her stellar play in the championship game. The senior tallied 19 assists and eight aces in the three-set win. She also took home Player of the Tournament honors.
The fans noticed her performance, voting her The Bee’s Girls Player of the Week.
Zamora came in first, collecting 39% of the votes in the weekly poll. She finished ahead of Hughson flag football player Leah Hobby and Central Valley volleyball player Gabriela Delatorre, who were second and third, respectively.
