Here is Stanislaus District fans’ pick for The Bee’s Girls Prep of the Week

Big Valley Christian ace Ava Hernandez is back from an ankle injury and better than ever. As a junior the injury forced her to miss the Lions’ postseason run but so far, she has had a solid senior season.

Her production in the circle and on offense has helped lead the Lions to 12 overall wins and a spot in the first MaxPreps Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII postseason projections.

Hernandez’s pitching helped the Lions earn a pair of wins last week. In a 3-0 win against Woodland Christian, she pitched a two-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts. Two days later, April 11, she struck out 14 batters and allowed just three hits in a 9-1 league win over Millennium. Both were complete games.

The fans noticed her week, voting her The Bee’s Girls Player of the Week.

Hernandez came in first, collecting 42% of the votes in the weekly poll. She finished ahead of softball players Kailey Estes (Gregori) and Jordyn Lish (Beyer) who were second and third, respectively.
