Here is Stanislaus District fans’ pick for The Bee’s Girls Prep of the Week

In the playoffs, every game matters and Sophia Castillon and Megan Weststeyn made sure to do their part in extending their team’s seasons.

For Central Catholic, outside hitter Castillon recorded 20 kills, five aces and 16 digs in a 3-1 Division III playoff win over Placer. Her performance in the Sac-Joaquin Section semifinals helped the Raiders reach the D-III championship against Christian Brothers. Castillon is second on the team in kills (355), aces (62) and digs (284).

A setter for Ripon Christian, Weststeyn tallied 60 total assists in a pair of Knights playoff wins. In the Division IV section semifinals against El Dorado, she finished with 31 assists and in the section title game against Ripon, she added 29. Both resulted in 3-0 Knights wins.

Castillon and Weststeyn were both voted players of the week by the fans in the weekly poll. They each received 35% of the votes. They finished in first ahead of Jordan Vander Veen (Ripon Christian) and Madison Genasci (Central Catholic).
