Paul Contreras made the most of his last game at Gregori High.

The senior Jaguar entered the senior night contest against Modesto High on Feb. 10 with a career high of 25 points. Contreras, the team’s second leading scorer, shattered that mark by night’s end.

The guard scored 45 points and added 10 rebounds, setting a Gregori school record in an 87-73 win. He shot 16-for-27 and made nine of his 12 free throw attempts.

The fans noticed his performance, voting him The Modesto Bee’s Boys Player of the Week.

Contreras earned 70% of the votes in The Bee’s weekly poll. He finished ahead of basketball players Avery Sanchez (Pitman) and Lloyd French (Downey), who came in second and third place.
