The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section on Thursday announced water polo pairings for the 2022 postseason.

Water polo playoffs feature three boys and girls divisions. Boys Division I and II and Girls Division I brackets are 15-team pools, while Girls Division II is a 14-team bracket. Eight teams qualify for the playoffs in Division III for boys and girls.

The two boys and three girls teams receiving first-round byes sit atop the boys and girls Division I and Division II brackets. Division III features no byes as the No. 8 team travels to the one seed in the quarterfinals.

In Division I, Davis High of Davis was awarded the top seed in the boys and girls postseason. Downey High extended its season as the boys earned a 12-seed while the girls are No. 10. The Turlock High boys team is fresh off winning the annual DeLong tournament for the first time in the program’s history and hosts a playoff game in the first round.

The Central California Athletic League champion Turlock girls team, led by league MVP Lia Romeo, earned the highest seed of any boys or girls Stanislaus District team in the top two divisions and also hosts a first-round game as the No. 5 seed. CCAL Defensive Player of the Year Abby Braley anchors the defense.

In Division II, Modesto’s Grace M. Davis High boys and girls teams had historic seasons. Both finished 14-0 in Western Athletic Conference play, earning league championships. The girls team is led by Olivia Beebe. The senior has scored 91 total goals and averages 4.8 goals per game. She has scored more than five goals in eight games this season. Fellow WAC member Beyer finished fourth in the 44th annual Western States Tournament and was given a 13-seed.

Del Oro’s boys team earned the first overall seed. No. 1 Woodcreek and No. 2 Del Oro earned first-round byes in the girls bracket.

In Division III, Sonora and Christian Brothers earned No. 1 seeds in the boys and girls postseasons, respectively, and Ripon’s boys and girls both earned No. 2 seeds. The Ripon girls team earned Valley Oak League championship after beating Sierra 12-4. Beyer’s boys earned a four-seed and will host No. 5 in the quarterfinals.
