Pitcher Micah Hall belongs to many short lists, so what’s another?

The Bee’s All-District Player of the Year leads a host of local players nominated for Cal-Hi Sports’ various all-state baseball teams, which will be announced in the coming days.

Hall led the Sac-Joaquin Section in wins, finishing his senior season 12-1 with a 1.44 ERA. The Cal State Stanislaus-bound right-hander carried Beyer to the Modesto Metro Conference crown, outdueling Gregori’s Anthony Dugo in a one-game playoff.

Those joining Hall from around the Stanislaus District on the Cal-Hi Sports honor roll are:

▪ Brad Bussard, Ceres senior: Bussard finished his decorated prep career as the Stanislaus District’s runs leader. Bussard crossed home plate 37 times, went 9-0 on the mound with a 1.30 ERA and was named the Western Athletic Conference MVP.

▪ Brandon Grogan, Escalon senior: Grogan hit .378 with 10 doubles, five triples and scored a team-high 24 runs. The Cal State Lutheran-bound outfielder swiped 15 bases, showcasing the speed that made him a big-play threat for the football team.

▪ Coleton Horner, Pitman senior: Hit .349 for the Central California Conference champions while pounding out 30 hits. Horner, a backstop for the Pride, will head south to Merced College to continue his baseball career.

▪ Tyler Janitz, Gregori senior: A vaccum at shortstop, Janitz batted .419 with a team-high 31 hits, 21 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Janitz is headed to Willamette University in Oregon.

▪ Jack Large, Beyer junior: Large flirted with a .500 batting average en route to the Modesto Metro Conference’s MVP award, as voted on by coaches. The outfielder had 39 hits, five of which were triples, and closed the 2015 season with a .494 average.

▪ Sam Mundt, Central Catholic junior: Though his record (5-4) didn’t reflect it, the 6-foot-6 ace was a dominant mid-week starter for the Raiders. Mundt boasted a 1.38 ERA and went the distance in four of his 10 starts.

▪ Dominic Pisano, Manteca senior: A key component to Manteca’s rise as a medium-sized school power – the Buffaloes were a section and mythical state champion in 2014 – Pisano closed his career with another sterling campaign. The center fielder batted .398 with a team-high 26 runs, 33 hits and 10 doubles.

▪ Jacob Ahid, Hilmar senior: Ahid led the Yellowjackets with a .338 average and tied for the team lead with 15 RBIs and six doubles. He was 5-5 on the mound with a 1.19 ERA; his 126 strikeouts in 702/3 innings pitched led the section and his nine complete games were tied for the section lead.

▪ Thomas Boitano, Calaveras senior: Boitano played both corner infield positions and led Calaveras with a .370 average, 27 hits and eight doubles.

▪ Mitchell Miller, Merced senior: The Bears’ right-hander went 3-1 with a 0.21 ERA against Central California Conference opposition and was named the CCC Pitcher of the Year.
