As the regular season winds down, it is important for teams that secured a playoff spot to continue to peak so they are playing their best at the time when one loss could end their season. Orestimba pitcher Jacquelyn Lujan made sure to not only help her team secure a 13-0 win, but also maintain mid-season form heading into the postseason.

In the final Southern Athletic League game, Lujan continued her strong junior campaign, pitching a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts. On offense, she had two hits with one double and two RBIs. The great all-around performance was noticed by the fans who voted her The Bee’s Girls Player of the Week.

Lujan won the poll after collecting 61% of the votes in the weekly poll. She finished ahead of Riverbank softball player Jynessa Lopez and Patterson track and field athlete Claire Pierce who came in second and third, respectively.

Third seed Orestimba and Lujan will play second seed Marysville in the Division IV semifinals on May 24 at 4 p.m.
