Turlock Christian junior Gavin Farinha was the team’s ace during the regular season and in the Eagles’ Division VII quarterfinals matchup against Foresthill, he didn’t disappoint.

In his first postseason appearance, Farinha pitched a complete game, striking out 20 batters and allowing just one run and had one RBI in a 5-1 win, which the fans noticed, voting him The Bee’s Boys Player of the Week.

Farinha came in first after earning 47% of the more than 50,200 votes in the weekly poll. He beat out Central Valley baseball player Chris Garcia and Pitman track and field athlete Joey Stout who came in second and third, respectively.

Turlock Christian and Farinha will play fourth seed Valley Christian in the Division VII section title game on May 24 at 6 p.m.
