Denair High picked up its first Southern Athletic League win on April 14 in a home game against Waterford. The Coyotes’ offense exploded for 12 runs and their defense allowed just one. The victory also ended a nine-game losing streak.

Pitcher Kaden Prine was a heavy contributor on offense and defense for the Coyotes. He struck out seven batters on the mound and went 3-3 with one double, drove in three RBIs and scored two runs in the win, earning enough fan votes to be named The Bee’s Boys Player of the Week.

Prine finished in first after earning 15,684 votes, 41% of the more than 38,500 votes cast in the weekly poll. He came in ahead of Oakdale baseball player Alex Jones and Ripon track and field athlete Anthony Sausedo, who finished in second and third place, respectively.
