Here’s Stanislaus District fans’ pick for The Bee’s Boys Prep of the Week

Ethen Rowland has been one of the best hitters for Downey High all season.

He leads the team in batting average (.552), hits (16) and runs scored (9) and doubles (5), according to MaxPreps.

In the Knights’ March 30 win over Pitman High, they scored eight runs with four of them coming in the bottom of the sixth. Rowland was the only player with multiple hits and RBIs in the game.

The junior had two hits with one double, one walk and two RBIs to help the Knights beat the CCAL’s top team. The fans noticed his performance, voting him The Bee’s Boys Player of the Week.

Rowland finished first after collecting 37% of the more than 57,900 votes in the weekly poll. He finished ahead of baseball players Grant Veneman (Gregori) and Chris Garcia (Central Valley) who finished in second and third, respectively.
