Turlock High softball scored its lone run in the second inning of a March 11 matchup with Atwater. After that, offense became an afterthought.

To protect its lead, the Bulldogs’ pitching had to be the best it had been all season, and thanks to Abbey Harrington, it was.

The senior pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out a season-high 12 batters.

Harrington, who has a Central California Athletic League-best 93 strikeouts, came up big when her team needed it most. The fans noticed, voting her The Bee’s Girls Player of the Week.

Harrington earned 48% of the votes in the weekly poll, finishing ahead of Patterson’s Emma Medina (41%) and Pitman’s Kayleen Zayehmoureh, who finished in second and third place, respectively.
