In one of the final games of Denair High’s Mario Plasencia’s regular season career, he had a game most players dream of.

The 6-foot-1 senior finished the Coyotes’ Feb. 14 matchup against Mariposa County with 23 points and 22 rebounds, tallying season highs in both categories and producing the school’s only 20-rebound game of the season.

The fans noticed Plasencia’s milestone game, voting him The Bee’s Boys Player of the Week.

He leads the Southern League champions in rebounds, averaging 9.4 per game, and is one of four players averaging 12 or more points.

Plasencia received 59% of the votes in the weekly poll. He came in first ahead of Patterson soccer player Johan Mendoza and Central Catholic basketball player Malachi Miller.

He will try to help lead the Coyotes to a Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championship on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Golden 1 Center.
