MC vaults into Holiday tournament final; Gregori to play for consolation title

Modesto Christian beat Clovis West 56-55 on Saturday in a semifinal at its Holiday Hoops Classic boys tournament in Salida.

The Crusaders will play in the championship on Monday at 7:45 p.m. against Campolindo, a 66-42 winner over Weston Ranch.

Michael Pearson and Baljot Sahi each had 11 points and Alek Merkviladze added 10 to guide the Crusaders.

Meanwhile, Gregori beat Liberty Ranch 76-66 and will play Bullard in the consolation championship on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Luke McClellan had 31 points to lead Gregori, which faces a Bullard team that knocked off Beyer and Manteca en route to Monday’s matchup.

Beyer and Ripon will meet in the 15th place game on Monday at 9 a.m. It will be followed by the 13th place game featuring Turlock against Sonora at 10:30 a..m.
