It was only fitting that Oakdale senior Lexy Webb’s final game at home was a memorable one.

The Fresno State signee not only had a three-run home run but was one out away from a perfect game in the Mustangs’ 10-0 win over Wood in five innings in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs on Wednesday.

She had to “settle” for a no-hitter, striking out 10 including the final batter.

“I was pretty nervous when I got to the three-ball count but the error (with two outs in the fifth) didn’t really faze me,” Webb said. “It was a really exciting moment (no-hitter).”

With over 25 career home runs , 119 RBIs, and an ERA below one, Webb has done it all.

She might one of the section’s best players, but she still can make mistakes, like when she flew out on the first pitch in her first at-bat. Coach Larry Loger wasn’t too thrilled and told her to wait for her pitch in the next at-bat.

Webb did and she hit a three-run home run to left in the second.

“She is one of the best hitters I have ever seen,” Loger said. “She is disciplined but still gets a little anxious like her first at-bat.”

Oakdale (25-0-1) had six walks and multiple players contributed on offense including junior Cortney Koelmans, who was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and junior Rilyn Cassaretto who was 1-for-1 with a triple, two walks, and three runs scored.

“In my 19 years of coaching, we feel this lineup is one of the best we have had in a long time,” Loger said.

Oakdale will face the winner of Rosemont and Vanden at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Arnaiz Stadium in Stockton. Rosemont and Vanden had their game postponed to Thursday due to rain.

Ripon 4, Sonora 0: Sophomore Sydney Thomason and junior McKenna Daley each had home runs in the win for the Indians (21-2).

Del Campo 4, Patterson 1: The Tigers (16-9) fell in the Division III playoffs.

Rain postpones games: Early Wednesday, the section announced all Div. V, VI, and VII games scheduled to be played at the Arnaiz Stadium in Stockton were postponed due to rain.

Escalon, Hilmar, Hughson, Ripon Christian, and Waterford all will now play on Thursday.

Masters Track Meet will start earlier due to rain: With heavy rain in the forecast on Saturday at Davis Sr. High School, the section announced Wednesday they have moved the start time of the Masters Track Meet up three hours and running events will now start at 1:50 p.m. instead of the original time of 5 p.m. Field events will start at 1.

Friday’s start time of 2 p.m. for pole vault and 4 p.m. for running events remain the same.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children (5 and under).
