Section releases baseball and softball playoff brackets. Who are the top seeds?

The CIF Sac-Joaquin Section released its baseball and softball brackets on Friday. Several local teams have home games and a few were given top seeds.

Softball playoffs begin Monday while baseball starts the following day. All games begin at 4 p.m. unless the teams alert the officials and the section and move the start time to 6:30 p.m.

The Central California Athletic League champion Turlock Bulldogs (21-6) are the No. 7 seed in Div. I and will host Lincoln (15-13). Senior pitcher Casey Carr has not allowed an earned run all season. In 35 1/3 innings pitcher, Carr has 49 strikeouts. Gregori (11-16-1), which beat Enochs twice in a row last week to clinch a playoff spot, will travel to face Lodi (23-5). Junior third baseman Jeff Hoffman has a .474 batting average with 35 RBIs.

Hughson (20-4-2) is the No. 3 seed in Div. V and will host Amador (12-9). Senior Brian Haslam has 33 RBIs and a .405 average.

Ripon Christian (17-6) is the No. 1 seed in Div. VI and will host Millennium (11-13). Junior Nolan Lignley has five home runs and 35 RBIs for the Knights.

On the softball side, the CCAL champion Enochs Eagles (19-4-1) will host Lodi (12-6) in Div. I. The Eagles had a team earned run average of 0.80 and senior Raquel Chaidez allowed only nine earned runs in 66 innings.

Oakdale (23-0-1) is the top seed in Div. III and will host Mira Loma (11-6-1). The Mustangs outscored opponents 199-21 in the regular season and had eight players with at least 10 RBIs. Ceres (19-5) is the No. 8 seed and could face the Mustangs with a win over Wood (12-7-2). Senior infielder Shania Evans has a .390 average with three home runs and 26 RBIs.

Ripon (20-2) is the top seed in Div. IV and has a first round bye. The Indians have 26 home runs this year with junior catcher Mackenzie Hutchinson leading the way with seven.
