Stanislaus District baseball all-stars square off at CSUS
The 28th annual Modesto Sunrise Rotary High School All-Star Baseball Classic will be held Saturday at Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. A pre-game ceremony gets underway an hour later and the game begins at 7:05 p.m.
The game will feature the likes of Modesto Metro Conference MVP Matt Dallas, who led Gregori High to a 28-3 record and a berth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I semifinals. Dallas hit .510 for the season and when he wasn’t behind the plate handling the Jaguars’ pitching staff, he was on the mound himself, where he posted an 8-0 record with a 0.61 ERA.
Additionally, Oakdale’s Bryce Kirk, the MVP of the Valley Oak Leauge, and Santiago Cantu, the Western Athtletic Conference’s MVP, also are scheduled to appear.
The Blue team will be coached by Gregori’s Jim Davis, while the Gold team is coached by Oakdale’s Nate Gregory, who guided the Mustangs to a berth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III finals against eventual champion Christian Brothers.
