Basketball gets underway with Modesto City hoops tournament
The Modesto City Basketball Tournament begins Wednesday with five games split between Downey and Enochs high schools.
Action begins at 4 p.m. at Enochs, with Gregori taking on Buhach Colony. The host Eagles take on Clovis West at 5:30, followed by Pitman vs. Davis at 7.
Meanwhile, at Downey, the host Knights entertain East Union at 5:30, while the Edison-Atwater matchup tips off at 7.
Beyer and Johansen won’t see action until Thursday.
The tournament concludes Saturday with a slate of games to be determined.
The Modesto City event kicks off a handful of preseason tournaments around the Stanislaus District.
Turlock High’s boys host the Godinez Tournament, while Modesto Christian’s girls host the Crusader Classic. Both events begin Dec. 8.
Modesto Christian’s boys host the Holiday Hoop Classic beginning Dec. 27.
