Free group golf clinic Saturday at River Oaks

Greg Silva, the teaching pro at River Oaks since 1992, inspired Ryan Thornberry, one of his former students.

Thornberry, having learned his golf lessons from Silva since he was 7, became a pro and traveled the globe as a minitour player for eight years.

Silva and Thornberry have reformed their bond after the Thornberry family purchased River Oaks last summer. To restart the new era at River Oaks, Silva and Thornberry will hold a free group clinic Saturday, Oct. 3, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on the practice range. Golfers of all ages and calibers are invited.

“We encourage everyone to come out. We’ll answer any question you have about anything about golf,” Silva said. “Ryan and I will be there to talk and demonstrate golf.”
