Modesto-area soccer fans can ride trains to some World Cup games. Dates and fares
The Altamont Corridor Express will have special trains to three of the six World Cup soccer games in Santa Clara.
The closest station is at the Manteca/Lathrop border for fans in Stanislaus County. ACE stops right outside Levi’s Stadium, one of several first-round hosts for the 48-nation men’s tournament.
Details on the ACE-served games:
June 13: 10 a.m. train arrival for Qatar vs. Switzerland, kickoff at noon
June 19: 6:07 p.m. arrival for Turkey vs. Paraguay, kickoff at 8 p.m.
July 1: 2:35 p.m. arrival for the final game, kickoff at 5 p.m., which will decide who moves on to the round of 16.
Round-trip tickets from Manteca/Lathrop are $30 for the first two games and $40 for the final. For exact timetables and booking, visit acerail.com.
ACE is mainly a weekday commuter service between Stockton and San Jose, with four round trips. The stations also include Tracy, Livermore, Pleasanton and Fremont.
Levi’s Stadium is home to the San Francisco 49ers, which has ACE trains to most games. Details for the 2026 football season have not been announced.
World Cup host cities around the nation can cover some of their costs through the Federal Transit Administration. ACE is serving only three games because its funding request fell short. The others are June 16, 22 and 25.
ACE is overseen by the San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission. It seeks riders weary of freeway commutes and the rising cost of car ownership.
The commission is chaired by Lisa Craig-Hensley, a member of the Lodi City Council. In a news release, she called the World Cup a “once-in-generation” event.
“Through special ACE service, we are helping create a more accessible and connected experience while demonstrating the important role passenger rail plays in supporting major international events.”
ACE served the Super Bowl on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium. In 2023, it carried fans to an Ed Sheeran concert at the same venue.
