Here is where to watch the World Cup games in Modesto
If you couldn’t snag a ticket, don’t have cable or just want to watch the beautiful sport with other fans, here are some places in Modesto that will be playing the World Cup this spring and summer.
The World Cup officially kicks off on Thursday, June 11, with two matches. Mexico faces South Africa at noon, while South Korea faces Czechia at 7 p.m.
The games will be televised on Fox and FS1, with all 104 matches available live and on demand in 4K. Fox will show 70 of the matches and also feature all games on the FOX One streaming platform. Telemundo and Universo have the Spanish-language broadcast rights.
Seven games will be at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. Those games are:
- June 13: Qatar vs. Switzerland
- June 16: Austria vs. Jordan
- June 19: Turkey vs. Paraguay
- June 22: Jordan vs. Algeria
- June 25: Paraguary vs. Australia
- July 1: Round of 32
The Standard Pub, 950 Oakdale Road, is having a watch party for the inaugural game June 11 at noon. There will be a team Mexico jersey giveaway. Customers are encouraged to support their country by wearing their respective kit and can earn a raffle ticket for the drawing with every food or drink purchase.
P Wexford’s Pub, 3313 McHenry Ave, will be showing all the games. Sean Dublin, an employee at the pub, said they’ve just started decorating for it this week.
“I just know we’re going to be leaning heavily into the World Cup,” Dublin said.
Bookies Bar & Grill, 2020 Standiford Ave., will serve three FIFA-themed drinks, in addition to showing the matches.
Legends Sports Bar and Grill, 2003 Yosemite Blvd., will offer specials on tacos and drinks in light of the World Cup.
