Modesto Junior College tight end Roy Hanson signs with Fresno State
Rory Hanson won’t have to travel too far to play Division I football as the Modesto Junior College sophomore tight end signed with Fresno State on Tuesday.
“I wanted to stay close to home so my family could go to all my games,” Hanson said. “I also believe that Fresno State has a great winning culture as well as great fans.”
Hanson, who is 6 feet, 5 inches tall and 240 pounds, had nine receptions for 202 yards and two touchdowns for the Pirates last season.
“He has the profile and looks like a prototype tight end,” Pirates coach Rusty Stivers said. “He has a great work ethic and learned the position his freshman year. The second half of the season this year, he was fantastic.”
Hanson was also used as a fullback for the Pirates and helped block for an MJC running game that averaged over 200 yards per game.
A Modesto Christian graduate, Hanson said he offers from Sam Houston State, University of Massachusetts and University of Texas-El Paso and received interest from Texas Tech and UCLA.
Hanson enrolled for the spring semester at Fresno State and said he will major in biology.
