But that was before they went 1-4 against the Red Sox and Yankees.
That struggle was not unnoticed by the national power rankings, and the Giants have an average ranking of fourth this week. Their most precipitous drop was from third to seventh in Bleacher Report’s poll. USA Today looked more kindly on the Giants’ slump, dropping them from first to second.
The Dodgers enjoyed a slight improvement and average an 8.25 ranking.

As has been the case for most of the season, the Angels (21.75), A’s 22.25) and Padres (23.25) round out the rest of the California teams.
