Kadry on Bowling: Pros coming to town this weekend
The 11th annual PBA and PBA50 West Region Vanessa Brown Homes Open comes to Yosemite Lanes this weekend. Three No-Tap Pro-Am tournaments will accompany the event for locals to compete with the pros. The two squads offered are Friday at 4 p.m. or Saturday at 7:30 p.m. There are three divisions: adults, seniors and youth. Adults will pay a $40 entry fee and have a guaranteed $300 first prize. Seniors will pay $25 and have a $250 guarantee. Youths will pay $20 and earn scholarship prizes. Ball packages are being offered for all entrants. Call Wayne Garber at 209-524-9161 for information. ▪ Kathy Ely was the top overall scorer and headed the ladies’ prize list in the Yosemite Senior No-Tap with a 904 total. Claudelle Bonaccinie was second with an 865, and Beth Sims was third at 859. On the men’s side, Max Norris led the field with an 895, followed by Royce Sappenfield with an 890 and Keith Hunter with an 867.
▪ The team of Jackie Wilson, Barbara Warner and Fonda Jameson won the Ladies Luncheon No-Tap at Yosemite with a 2,249 total. Nancy VanHulzen, Debbie Couch and Cindy James placed second with a 2,140. Erica Craig, Pam Lecher and Roseanne Martinez finished third with a 2,114.
▪ The Central Valley Bowling Club has an event scheduled for June 18 at 1 p.m. at Bellevue Bowl in Atwater. Participation is limited to men age 55 or older and women 50 and older. Tournament fees are $40 per event, and membership costs $20 annually. Guests may bowl with an additional $10 fee, but they must join if they cash in. The format starts with four games of qualifying, and the top three scorers will participate in a stepladder final. ▪ Entries are available for the 11th annual Battle at Black Oak Lanes PBA Tournament and Pro-Am from June 24-26. The PBA event will roll Saturday and Sunday starting at 8 a.m. The Pro-Am is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m. Participants must be at least age 21. There are two entry options: $50 includes Pro-Am and T-shirt, and $150 includes Storm Pitch Ball, Pro-Am and T-shirt.
▪ The local bowling association is seeking one vice president, seven directors and three youth directors. Applications are at the bowling center desks and must be returned there by July 10. The annual meeting is set for July 17 at 10 a.m. at McHenry.
▪ The Junior/Senior Firecracker Doubles at McHenry is scheduled for July 4 at 1 p.m. The doubles teams are made up of one youth (18 and younger) and one adult (55 and older). No averages are needed to participate. If you are a senior or junior and don’t have a partner, you can be matched with someone. Entry includes a barbecue lunch, cash place money for the seniors, scholarships for the youths and lots of prizes. Lunch starts at noon, and tournament check-in is at 12:30.
