Kadry on Bowling: McHenry Peach Classic on tap

The 67th annual McHenry Peach Classic Tournament starts its nine-weekend run May 28 and continues through July 31.

The singles tournament rolls five games over six lanes. The main prize list is handicapped and includes six additional money lists. Besides May 28-29, special squads have been added for Memorial Day. Squads are at noon, 2:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. each day. Squads this weekend are also Bonus Days, where extra money is paid to the highest scorers for the day.

The prize fund is estimated to be more than $35,000, and 100th place will pay $100. For information or to reserve a spot, call 209-571-2695. ...

The Central Valley Senior Bowling Club posted the winners of its Brentwood Doubles Tournament Harvest Park Bowl in Brentwood. Earning the title were Loren and Janet Spooner of Modesto. The pair qualified second at 1,809 and rolled off for the title against Ginger DeMello and Art Rosenburg, first-place qualifiers with an 1,810 total.

In a 457-422 match, the Spooners prevailed for the $342 first-place purse. DeMello and Rosenburg earned $240. Nine places were paid with 1,794 low in the money. ...

▪ The annual winter league tournaments have finished, and the final prize lists have been released. Yosemite hosts the Pot of Gold and Senior Pot of Gold Tournaments. The American Metals team from the Black Oak League took the 2016 title in the Pot of Gold with a 3,663 total. Teammates Cody Christensen, Alex Bermudez, Don Erickson, Freddy Irvin and Rich Custer will share the $1,000 first prize.

The Call 911 team from the Sunday Fun Mixers finished second, scoring 3,643 and earning $625. The roster includes Josh Petitt, Kim Semone, Brett Sayad, Tina Munson and Alex Bermudez. Taking third was the B&R Carpet team from the Gallo League. Team members Gary and Debbie Britt, Jennifer Tillery, Reggie Scott and Sharon Aronson posted a 3,638 and will share $425.

The Abys Team from the Jalopy League finished in the top spot in the Senior Pot of Gold with a score of 2,811. The team lineup includes Abe Abston, Linda York, Elvin Ghan and Charlie Nishiguchi; they’ll share $440. The Old Red’s Antiques team representing the Young at Heart League placed second. Anita Westfall, Jerry Barker, Don Marceau and Cliff Marceau scored 2,750 and will share $320. ...

▪ At McHenry, Nails by Becca from the Black Oak Ladies League won the Tournament of Champions with a 3,481. Team members Cristina Robillos, Don Fowzer Sr., Becca Johnson, Nicole Cox and Brittany Marckese will share the $1,000 first prize.

The Two & A Half Men team from the Tuesday Triples finished second with a 3,442 and earned $600. Wil Hackett, Kelly Lebherz, Chris and Bill Hackett and James Brodie round out the team lineup. Federal team members Augie Escamilla, Larry Garner, Joe Cleary, David Lebherz and Chris Marckese took third with a 3,416 and will share $450. ...

▪ Winning the McHenry Cellar Dwellars Tournament was the Walkers Automotive team from the Black Oak Classic. Jon and Kathy Al-Chammani, Raymond Waring, Don Fowzer and Kyle Courtroul scored a 3,346 and will share $600. The Backstreet Katz out of the Reno Bound League took second with a 3,284 and earned $350. Team members include Justin and Esther Mannon, Donny and Heather Souza, and Rob Mori.

The team of Joyce and Eddie Lewis with David Brown won the Mixed Kegler Trios tournament at McHenry with a 2,470 score. Lana Trantham teamed with Janet and Loren Spooner to take second with their team score of 2,364. In third was the team of Fritz Klatt, Larry Bolles and Betty Gerritsen, who posted a 2,335. ...
