BICYCLING

BIKE TO WORK DAY The City of Modesto and other organizations are hosting this event with all-day secured bicycle parking. Modesto residents are encouraged to ride their bikes into downtown May 19, 6:30-8:30 a.m. at Tenth Street Plaza on 10th Street between J and K streets. Continental breakfast will be provided to riders commuting to downtown for work. The first 150 riders will receive a T-shirt and other give-a-ways. The ride will start at Village Baking Company in McHenry Village with Mayor Ted Brandvold and a special escort by the Modesto Police Department. LIFEGUARD TRAINING COURSE The city of Modesto offers American Red Cross lifeguard training and Title 22 certification courses for ages 15 and up. Successful completion guarantees two years in lifeguard training, first aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and three years for Title 22.
