Kadry on Bowling: Local community loses good friend
The local bowling community has lost a good friend with the death of Todd Bettencourt. Bettencourt was a manager at McHenry Bowl for many years, and he recently took a position at Manteca Bowl as its facilities manager.
He passed away at 37 last Wednesday at his home. Bettencourt was proud to be an Army veteran and struggled with debilitating injuries he received while serving our country. Despite those injuries, he was always upbeat, friendly and a support to many.
He leaves his two children, Joey and Tiffany, and a sister, Spring. Services will be private, and he will be laid to rest at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. A drop-in Celebration of Life will be held at McHenry Bowl on May 22 from noon to 4 p.m. for those who would like to pay their respects.
This Saturday, McHenry’s Benefit Bowl starts at 1 p.m. All funds go to the local chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The party will include bowling, shoe rental, T-shirt, barbecue lunch, raffles and a silent auction. Cost is $50 per person, with all of it going as a donation. Check-in starts at noon. Call Stacey at 571-2695 for more information.
