LIFEGUARD TRAINING COURSE The city of Modesto offers American Red Cross lifeguard training and Title 22 certification courses for ages 15 and up. Successful completion guarantees two years in lifeguard training, first aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and three years for Title 22. Participants must take a pre-test to qualify for the course. Cost is $300. The final session is April 18-28 and consists of eight classes: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. All classes are held at Johansen High School, 641 Norseman Ave., Modesto. The camp will emphasize proper technique in the six fundamental areas: setting, passing, blocking, hitting, serving and defense.
