Kadry on Bowling: Results are in for Modesto City Tournament
The last ball was rolled in the 2016 Modesto City Tournaments, and the unofficial results have been posted.
The Damn 10-Pin team held its lead in the Men’s Team Division with a 2,977 total. The team roster with its pinfall included Paul Smith (591), Brad Beckner (597), Rudy Marquez (572) and Jeff Yarnell (648). The team earned a 569-pin handicap.
The Squirtle Squad moved into first in the Mixed Team Division. The roster included Megan Hunter (637), Curtis Moffett (680), Dylan Tillery (718) and Alex Bermudez (755). The team totaled 3,159, including a 369-pin handicap.
In the doubles events, the team of Ron Gilbert (708) and Norm Wiggins (693) is sitting in first place in the Men’s Division with a 1,541 score, including a 140-pin handicap. In the Women’s Division, Rebecca Johnson and Cristina Robillos held their lead with a 1,370 total. The duo of Linda Barr and Ronald Dorville also retained the top spot for the Mixed Division with a 1,607 series.
On the singles list, William Wilcox tops the men’s side, scoring a 738 set and adding a 78-pin handicap for an 816 total. Cristina Robillos is high for the women after posting a 776 set, including 278-pin handicap.
Handicap All-Events leaders are Ronald Dorville at 2,249 for the men and Linda Barr at 2,285 for the women.
Wayne Garber moved into first place in the Scratch All-Events with his 2,276 nine-game total – a 252 average. Raymond Waring rolled a 300 game during his team event and added games of 235-268 for an 803 series. He posted the only 300 or 800 during the event. ...
There were new leaders in the Senior City No-Tap Tournament from the last squad. Kelly Lewis (751) teamed with Mary Morales (866) to roll the top score of 1,773, including a handicap of 156 pins. Glenn Thompson and Marion Roberts were second with their 1,725 series. ...
In the City Youth Singles Tournament, Roman Heath is in the top spot for the Scratch Division with a 709 series. Colby Patereau held on to first in the Junior/Major Division with his 804 handicap set. Carter Christensen held the lead in the Bantam/Prep Division with a 723 handicap series. ...
For men age 55 and older and women 50 and older, the second tournament for the Central Valley Bowling Club is Saturday at 1 p.m. at Yosemite Lanes. Check-in starts at noon. The tournament fee is $40 per event, and it’s $20 per year for membership. Guests may bowl in the tournament with an additional $10 fee but must join if they cash in the event. The format for each event starts with four games of qualifying. The top four scorers will participate in a stepladder final round immediately after qualifying. The March edition of the Yosemite Lanes Scratch 6-Gamer is set for Sunday. Check-in begins at 11 a.m.; tournament scoring starts at noon. The oil pattern will be the Yosemite House shot. Entry fee is $60 with optional brackets, high- and last-game pots and senior insurance. Freddy’s Tree Service has added money to the prize fund and is sponsoring the 6-Gamer Bowler of the Year program. Myles Duty is leading Bowler of the Year stats after two events.
