LIFEGUARD TRAINING COURSE The City of Modesto offers American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Title 22 Certification courses for ages 15 and up. Successful completion guarantees two years in lifeguard training, first aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and three years for Title 22. Participants must take a pre-test to qualify for the course. Cost is $300. The first session will be six classes held Feb. 19-28, Fridays from 5-8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The next session is during Modesto City Schools spring break, March 28-April 2, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The final session is April 18-28 and consists of eight classes: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. All classes are held at Johansen High School, 641 Norseman Ave., Modesto. INDOOR WINTER/SPRING CLASSES The City of Modesto offers year-round swim lessons. Sessions are through Feb. 25 and are held Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday evenings, totaling eight classes. Lessons include adult and child, preschool, Levels 1 and 2, private and semi-private. Adult Water Exercise is designed to teach stretching and toning muscles using water resistance. Classes are held in an indoor, heated pool with an experienced water aerobics instructor. Classes are Monday and Wednesday evenings.
