Kadry on Bowling: Field of 24 set for Scratch 6-Gamer TofC

The Scratch 6-Gamer Tournament of Champions competes at Yosemite Lanes on Sunday, starting at noon.

The TofC will roll on six oil patterns over six pairs of lanes. More than $1,100 has been added to the prize fund, and 12 of the field of 24 will cash. Entries are out for the 2016 BVL Friendship Doubles Fundraising Tournament. The BVL, or Bowlers to Veterans Link, provides funding for hospitalized and recovering veterans to participate in recreational therapy programs. The tournament runs Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. and Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. at Yosemite. Doubles teams can be any combination of men and women with one combined prize list. Cost is $20 per person. Side pots are optional at $3 per person with a separate division for men and women. Entries close before the last squad. ...

New Year’s Eve bowling events run all day Thursday at both bowling centers. The festivities start with the New Year in Paris senior tournament and party at McHenry. A light buffet is served at 11:30 a.m., and bowling kicks off at 12:30 p.m. There will be a champagne toast and celebration at 3 p.m. local time (midnight Paris time). Bowling with money shots, music, food, party favors and a champagne glass are included. ...

The Youth New Year’s Eve Party at Yosemite rolls from 4-7 p.m. The party includes bowling, shoe rental, party favors and apple cider. There will be a countdown with an apple cider toast at 6 p.m. Cost is $65 per lane and will hold up to six bowlers. An adult version of the party will run from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. with a champagne toast at midnight. Lane rental is $80 and will hold up to eight. Deposits are required. The Junior-Adult Double Elimination Scholarship Tournament will run New Year’s Day at Yosemite. Check-in is at 9 a.m. with competition at 10. Teams consist of one youth and one adult with a team max average of 450. Bowlers will start with a qualifying round of three games, and the top eight teams will advance to the double-elimination finals. Entry fee is $40 per team. ...

The new Central Valley Senior Bowling Club has formed out of Modesto and is accepting membership forms. The inaugural tournament is set for Feb. 21 at McHenry. The club is working on scheduling monthly tournaments at centers throughout the Central Valley, including Modesto, Atwater, Tracy, Stockton and Tuolumne City.
