Kadry on Bowling: Rick Francis caps comeback with 300 in 6-gamer championship

When Rick Francis returned to bowling after an accident about a year ago, he did it in a big way.

If you recall, Francis stopped to help a stranded motorist on his way home from bowling one night around Christmas and was struck by a car. His right leg was crushed, and he has been through numerous surgeries and a grueling rehabilitation.

At the end of the summer, he threw a few balls from his wheelchair, then on crutches, but officially came back when he subbed on a team three weeks ago and posted a 772 set.

Francis not only won the match but rolled a 300 game to Custer’s 248. Francis earned a berth in the Tournament of Champions and $284.

But more importantly, he is back to bowling. His dad, deceased Hall of Famer Charlie Francis, would have been proud. ...
